Matej began his career in engineering roles at some of the world's most influential technology companies — Apple, Microsoft, and Ericsson. These experiences provided deep exposure to world-class engineering practices, large-scale systems thinking, and the discipline required to build products used by millions.

The Startup Journey

Driven by a desire to create, Matej transitioned into the startup world. He co-founded MochaLabs, a product incubator where he led architecture, product execution, hiring, and mentoring across multiple ventures.

One of those ventures was Sportening, a sports community platform that grew to over 500,000 users and a team of 30+ engineers. The platform was built on a microservices architecture using Elixir, Kafka, Kubernetes, Terraform, Grafana, and Prometheus — a testament to Matej's belief in building robust, scalable systems from day one.

Earlier, he co-founded Vibby, a video collaboration platform where he served as CTO, leading product and engineering. Vibby was successfully acquired in late 2019, marking Matej's first exit as a technical founder.

TradeLocker

Today, Matej serves as Co-Founder & CTO at TradeLocker, where he leads technology and engineering for a trading platform used by millions of traders and integrated with over 100 brokers and prop firms. He scaled the company from zero to 80+ people, building the architecture, infrastructure, reliability, and security practices that underpin the platform. TradeLocker represents the culmination of everything Matej has learned about building high-performance, mission-critical systems at scale.
